From 22 to 26 October 2017, Mrs. Aben V?ronique, Direcotor of French speaking Africa of VMD participated in the princely economic mission under the chairmanship of HRH Princess Astrid. In addition to Princess Astrid, the delegation of more than 200 executives from some 140 companies was surrounded by Walloon & Flemish Ministers of the Economy, Pierre-Yves Jeholet and Philippe Muyters, Brussels Secretary of State for Trade C?cile Jodogne, Federal Foreign Minister Didier Reynders and State Secretary for Foreign Trade Pieter De Crem. The interest of Belgian companies was enormous, which is not surprising considering that Belgium already accounts for 12% of European exports to the country and thus ranks as the 2nd largest exporter to Ivory Coast which has a well-defined future as one of the leading emerging countries by 2020.
Also for VMD there are huge opportunities in Ivory Coast. Ivory Coast poultry farming is a sector with enormous potential and has a huge impact on the economy in terms of turnover, job creation and the fight against food insecurity.
For VMD, the interest was to explore new opportunities for certain product lines and to strengthen and intensify collaboration with its partner Codivet. Dr. Cacou MP, General Manager of Codivet, assisted Ms. Aben at the official Belgian reception held at the Sofitel Abidjan Auditorium on October 24th.
